A Month back, Vaiko join hands with ADMK to face the TamilNadu Assembly Election 2006. Before that he was in UPA which was led by DMK in Tamil Nadu. As there is only one month left for election, hot campaigning is going on in most places in TamilNadu.

M Karunanidhi & his Nephew Maran & family have many TV channels(Sun Network), Print Media & FM Radio licenses. The list of them are :

TV Networks : SunTV, KTV, Sun Music, Sun News, SuryaTV, KiranTV, GeminiTV, TejaTV, AdithyaTV,Teja News, UdayaTV, UsheTV, Udaya2 & Udaya News.

FM Radio : Suryan FM - Chennai, Suryan FM - Coimbatore, Suryan FM - Tirunelveli & Vishaka FM. (4) + its said that they have license to operate in 20 places.

Print Media : Dailies : Dinakaran & Tamizh Murasu Other Magazines : Kungumum, Mutharam, Vannathirai, Kumguma Chimizh. And they have some more in Other languages too.

Its started like, VAIKO few weeks back commented that DMK Chief M Karunanidhi is holding more than 50% of the media in South India which is not fair etc.,
But its true. Even once I have read somewhere that they have a market share of 66% in daily TV viewers category.

Since after he left DMK Led UPA, he started commenting DMK & its President M Karunanidhi, which is normal since every political leader who quits one alliance & joins another do the same. The issue started of when he started pouring words about Karunanidhi 's TV network & the other group of Media.

Suddenly, yesterday (02 April 2006) in Sun TV News they were questioning VAIKO that why he(VAIKO)didn't try to bring to people 's notice that Sun TV group has got these things, while he was in DMK Led DPA alliance ??

Also there was a solid 5 minutes listing of all BigB s in the world media (starting from Times in US, till Zee TV in India) in the SUN TV News explaining that each of the companies have Dailies, Magazines & TV Channels, they meant like :not only SUN TV & group have a foot in all kind of News & Information Media, even others have more than what they have, whiich is highly acceptable.

But onething they have CONCEALED in that News is none of the media group (owners / controllers) other than SUN TV & group is in Politics, raw POLITICS. Everyone must accept this, even you can't say NO to yourself!

Ofcourse, SUNTVs relatives are doing politics. But other listed medias are also indirectly take part in their local politics. Best example from the SUNTV listing is DINATHANTHI, could you say they don't have any link with politics?

What Mr.Vaiko needs to do with SUNTV..?
If he thinks SUNTV growth is related with Politics, can we consider all the well established channels in (atleast) INDIA grown by politics only? Actually SUNTV started when DMK was not in rule, and established.

If we want to say in Mr.Vaikos' style, can you accept MGR was more popular because of DMK..?

What ever Mr.Vaiko is saying all for sake of politics. He also knows about this.

Let me get it clear. If we say student A got more marks by "copying others". That doesn't mean whoever got high marks are got them by copying others.

So, you can't consider all the well established channels in INDIA are grown by politics only.

Let me clear one thing, all the channels are directly or indirectly depend on a political party. Could you deny on this..? Thats what I said in my previous.

Moreover, in a democratic country like INDIA, no one can make people to view a TV channel forcefully. If SUNTV growth is dependent on DMK then it should go down whenever DMK is not in power. Moreover SUNTV is doing well in all Southern States for quite long time, that is before DAYANITHI MARAN enter into politics. Obviously it shows, as they said, SUNTV is fully dependent on their creative program design team. It is applicable for all channels.

I also wondered why people are always accusing politicians, a doctor wants to make his/her son/daughter be a doctor,a software engineer father/mother also likes to do the same thing, then why shouldn't a politician? The only thing is we have to make sure whether the focused candidate is a eligible or not.

Mr.Vaiko told two days back SUNTV is not a eligible one to show him, then why he was quaralled about SUNTV was hyding him...?

Dear saravanan,

Did vaiko denied we can make people to view a TV channel forcefully, but what Vaiko saying is, "Veera thiyagi" Dayanidhi Maran misusing his power to destroy other TVs and promoting his own TV.

You wondered because you are a die hard DMK supporter. If you start watching other than suntv you may understand. As like software engineering, anybody can join in politics work for his liking party and then grow and become leader of that party. What is being disliked by us is, Why "Veera thiyagi" maran is being given a sudden promotion as a central minister. Why Anbumani is being given a sudden promotion as a central minister? Let "Veera thiyagi" work for few years as a low level political partyman before being promoted(and Projected by his Own TV) as "Super star". Why they are getting perference over other more talented members?.

For example, If a doctor wants to make his son/daughter as a Doctor, he is asking him/her to study hard, not one fine morning take him to his clinic and make him as a doctor. That's what exactly happened to "Veera Thiyagi" Dayanidhi maran.

When 1991 May 21 night and 22, when each and every DMK partymen houses, shops burnt where was this "Veera thiyagi"?. Did he helped any of his partymen?. Why suddenly he got central minister post?. The people who spent countless hours in organising meetings, drawing paintings are salary less idiots or slaves?. Did you know how many DMK partymen died/lost their family, money, assets. (Note: we lost that day alone 35 lakhs worth of our own assets, just because we belong DMK party.).

His son M.K. Alagiri(madurai), killed his own partyman(Tha. Krishnan, Sivakangai). He was a DMK party ex-MP and 60+ years old and he was working for the party for more than 40 years. Think about his family members.

So the point is nobody objects politicians daughters/sons coming to politics, it is how they are coming?.

Let me explain point by point...

1. You said, I am a die hard DMK supporter..

>> Actually I am not a member of DMK or any one of its alliance party. I am working as a Software Engr. in NY. But I am closely watching politics more than 17 yrs. Also felt DMK is ok then other party in this election. Please note I am not saying DMK is the best one.

2. Regarding Dayanithi Maran.. "Veera Thyagi.."

in INDIA TODAY best minister survey he got his third rank, he also got fifth in "Outlook" survey,
apart from these he has done many good jobs like, help to start NOKIA factory in chennai,Reduce the
phone call price to Rs.1 to anywhere from INDIA,etc.

Actually we are not discussing about DMK alliances VS ADMK alliances we are discussing about VAIKOs'
statement on SUNTV. I think this is not related to our topic.

But you said he is misusing his power to promote SUNTV.I don't think so, more over I told earlier SUNTV established well when DMK was not in power. You believe it or not all the TRP ratings are saying SUNTV serials are leading in the TOP serials list.

Also Dayanithi says he don't have any control for the Television dept.

What else Mr.Vaiko wants, what ever it may be he just want to close the SUNTV..?

3. Regarding Anbumani...

You don't want to talk about family politics. But I thought it was you who started that. In my first reply, I was merely pointing out that your statement logic is wrong. I didn't even say VAIKO is right, etc.

For the record, vaiko never wanted to close the SUNTV. He was just against the misusing of power.

My Answer:
Mr.Vaiko says SUNTVs' growth is based on politics only. I am strongly denying this one.

If he thinks politcal-background is the only reason then, can (he accept) we say all the well established channels in (atelast) INDIA grown by politics only..? He shouldn't be.

The Truth is SUNTV started when DMK was not in power and established. That means, SUNTV developed their business based on the creative program representation.

I want to refer one more thing here, few years back (three or four) VIJAY TV was telecasting a program for Mr.VAIKO, at that time VIJAY TV was in No.3 position
so can we say, they achieved 3rd position because of Mr.VAIKOs' political back-ground? -- If this
is the truth then, SUNTV is also working with political back-ground only.

Mr.Vaiko (as well as you) may say, but Kalanithi Maran is grand-child of DMK President so only SUNTV was developed. Does he (you) think because of that reason only they shouldn't start any business...?
I can say even if they started a Maligai Kadai (Departmental Store) at that time also these people would say "they developed their business because of political back-ground only".
This is not fair. So only I asked in my previous mail "what Mr.Vaiko wants to do with SUNTV just want to close the TV?"

My point is clearly, SUNTVs' development not related to political back-ground only. Though their relatives are in politics, they can't go like that. Because it is business, in business you can't
go with your own taste only, it is also based on the consumers' interest. Hope you know very well.

Mr.Vaiko can politically offense DMK not SUNTV.

Here is my last attempt,

Vaiko or me never wanted to close SUNTV and never said it is grown **ONLY** because of Political power.

Vaiko or Me never said, MK & family shouldn't start business.
Even vaiko's son doing business.

Vaiko and My point is, DMK(D for "Thiyagi" Dayanidhi, MK= MKaruna) is misusing power and trying to destroy other channels.

Dayanithi was trying to destroy other channel using his power.

Also I told, it is not possible to destroy TV channels just like that. You know something RAJ TV
had started an additional channel without getting a proper approval from the government. So Govt. filed a case against RAJ TV and our Chennai High Court Agreed GOVTs' request and banned that additional channel. (hope you would agree High Court is not part of Central Ministry).
Then RAJ TV applied to Supreme Court, and with draw the case.

Also RAJ TV warned Mr.Vaiko, don't use their tv name for their political purpose.

SUNTV is not only doing well in Tamil, they are also doing very well in MALAYALAM,TELUGU and KANADA.
so do you say, they are destroying channels in the respective states other than TN ..?
It is not possible. If something happened like that then all the state channel should stand against SUNTV. But that is not happening. I have friends from Andhra and Kerala they agreed SUNTV is doing
well in their states and also SUNTVs' respective channels are the in the No.1 position.
