K A Sengottaiyan (ADMK) - The Come Back Kid

K A Sengottaiyan - Come Back Kid

After his defeat in 1996 TamilNadu Assembly election, KA Sengottaiyan the Ex - Transport Minister was facing may problems due to corruption charges filed against him. Even once he was sentenced to four years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and a fine of Rs 1.05 lakh.

But after 2001 Election results, the charges against him was becoming weak. And in Feb 18 this year, the court acquitted him in all charges.

He was also visible in many AIADMK ceremonies in the past 2 years. And now he is one of the member in the Team formed by J Jayalalitha to talk to ADMK allies regarding seat sharing.

K A Sengottaiyan contested from Gobichettipalayam Assembly Constituency in 1991 and was selected as a MLA, and once in 1996 he lost. Due to the charges, he couldn't contest in 2001 Assembly election as well.

I believe, Mr. Sengottaiyan will contest in Gobichettipalayam Constituency this 2006 Assembly election.

Update :  As expected Mr. KA Sengottaiyan, Ex - Transport Minister is going to contest in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2006 from Gobi Assembly Constituency, which is also his native. His name was listed in the AIADMK candidate list.

Thirumavalavan (DPI) join hands with Jayalalitha (AIADMK) and bags 9 seats

Thirumavalavan(DPI)  join

hands with Jayalalithaa

DPI Bags 9 seats

Thirumavalavan, the Leader & Founder of Dalit Panther of India today joined AIADMK to face the forthcoming assembly election. It was an unexpected move, since he was very close to Dr. Ramadoss of PMK, who is in DPA - DMK alliance. It was said that DMK didn't afford any seat / rejected his plea in joining the DPA alliance. Also, the DMK President had recently said he had no objection if the PMK chose to give some seats to the DPI from its quota, and it was expected like that.

ADMK made an official announcement about the electoral alliance after DPI General Secretary Thol Thirumavalavan called on ADMK Supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalitha at her Poes Garden residence this morning, and he was given 9 seats in TamilNadu & Ponicherry.

But DPI, who has less than 1% vote bank in the state, and nearly 10 - 20 % in areas like Chidambaram, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri etc., faced the General Election 2004 with Janata Dal - United. In Chidambaram Parliamentary constituency Thirumavalavan contested in the General Election 2004, and lost. But the best of all is : he is the person, who has got 2.6 Lac votes in 7.4 Lacs votes casted, which is very good, since he opposed both DMK lead DPA alliance & AIADMK alliance & made the BJP candidate to forfeit his deposit.

The DPI had contested on the DMK symbol in the 2001 Assembly election in 8 seats and won just 1. Thirumavalavan, who won on the DMK ticket, quit the alliance and gave up his seat in 2004. This is also being seen as one of the reasons for the DMK to turn the DPI away. But, Thirumavalavan issued several open invitations to the PMK ( Dr Ramadoss), who floated the 'Tamil Protection Movement' jointly with Mr Thirumavalavan to join him in a third front, which Ramadoss didn't accept.

As of now, DPI (Dalit Panther of India) is an unrecognized party in the state. So this is a good chance for DPI / Thirumavalavan to get RECOGNIZED.

Karti Chidambaram

Karti Chidambaram

Karti Chidambaram, son of P Chidambaram the Finance Minister of India is a vivid person and a successful businessman. Unlike other politicians, Palaniappan Chidambaram, the finance Minister came from a well knowm family (Karaikudi chettiyars) and so Karti Chidambaram the heir is having the emphasis wherever he goes!!  Family Genealogy.

Karti Chidambaram did his schoolings in Don Bosco, Madras. and he went to Austin (University of Texas), where he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. And later he jumped to England to get a degree in Law from Cambridge University.

Besides his busy schedule Karthik Chidambaram, plays Tennis daily & has won many tournaments. And I believe that is a very good cricketer too. Coming from a good business minded family, Karti Chidambaram runs his own business like Chess Management Service, a legal advisory firm and a website called Myvakil.com and many more.

Sometime back, he started a website called Karuthu.com & Sujatha, the well known writer, officially inaugurated the website in which any one can express their views on any topic.

"Karti was campaign manager for his father who fought and won the parliamentary seat of Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu this May.Despite being out of electoral politics for several years, Chidambaram senior won from this constituency convincingly.Karti's bright ideas led to a well-conducted campaign with audio-visual techniques, through which people got to hear tapes of favourite songs, both old and the latest, mixed pleasantly with campaign messages", from OnlyPunjab.com

Like his father, P Chidambaram, Karti is also interested in Politics from his twenties. He describes himself as an active Congress worker and he was cited by many medias' for his movement with all types of workers in the party as well as with the public. Karti Chidambaram is expected to get some posts in the TamilNadu Congress Committee(TNCC) soon.

Karti on his father, P Chidambaram

Karti Palaniappan Chidambaram is fast talking, quick thinking and wants passionately to change India. In that he's his father's son, the Chidambarams' only child.

Karti s' sense of humour is all his own. He's clearly been brought up as a distinct personality and does not shy away from differing from his father, so the senior Chidambaram has got that right!

"He" is the finance minister.

Is he a strict or a lenient father?

He is very strict but has always given me tremendous freedom and leeway.

He said once that he has never and would never raise his hand at his child.

That is absolutely true, he has never raised his hand... Read More in Rediff
